How much would new brakes cost me?

I have a 98 Dodge Stratus, and the back brakes are going bad. Now I know nothing about cars, so when replacing brakes, do you have to replace both the front and back? Are there more parts that are needed when replacing breaks? And what is a rough estimate of what it would cost? Thanks! How much would new brakes cost me?If your back brakes are bad but the front ones aren't, the previous owner may have had front brake work done. When you take your car in make sure they check the front ones too, because it is much cheaper to replace the shoes only. If you wait too long, the shoes wear away and grind down the rotors, and they can quickly be damaged beyond repair. Same goes for drums in the rear. At least one time for most of the cars I've owned, I've had to spend a lot of money on brakes. Typically just once though. Replacing front rotors, and shoes front and rear recently cost me about $600 on my 2000 Ford Focus, including an alignment. But the safety and peace of mind is worth the money. Go to a well-known chain such as Meineke or Midas. Brakes are a very basic system and my experiences with these places have been positive. Good luck! How much would new brakes cost me?have a friend do em for you or ur parents if u take it to the dealers u get raped big timeHow much would new brakes cost me?I have a Dodge Stratus I change the brakes myself it cost me $80 dollars for pads and shoes. Then $60 dollars to turn the rotors and drums. The cost could be more if I had to replace the rotors, drums, or calipers. As much as $400 dollars in parts. If you take it to a brake shop I would say the cost could be $800 - $1200 dollars.
