Is it safe and practical to make your own performance brakes?

I've been looking around because i need new brakes for my car and I noticed that the only difference between normal brake rotors and performance ones is that the performance brakes have holes drilled into them. I know this is to dissipate the heat and gasses that build up when braking. Is it possible to purchase plain rotors and slap them onto a mill and make your own holes? Is there some kind of pattern you would have to follow? And the number one question, how safe would it be?Is it safe and practical to make your own performance brakes?NO,

Just because they %26quot;look%26quot; like the only difference is the holes, they MAY be made of different alloy material and thus different in tensile strength and/or heat dissipation qualities.

Don't mess with the brake system.

==========================Is it safe and practical to make your own performance brakes?i do know the regular roters r engineired by specsand grade of the roters which means strentgh i would not recomend it they would fail i m ase certifeid mechanic in that partIs it safe and practical to make your own performance brakes?Don't do it, its not safe at all and the below will happen......

The end result will be:

Rotors that will crack from the stress risers that created by the holes.

Lots of dull drill bits.

Horrible vibrations unless you get the rotors balanced afterward.

Brakes that will fade faster because of the decreased mass of cast iron.

Pads that will wear faster because of the shearing action of the holes. Although this will keep the pads from glazing........
