How is the drive with brembo brakes?

I was wondering if I put brembo brakes into the enthusiast 350z, would the braking be harder? I just wanted to know what the difference feels like. Obviously it will brake faster. I wanted to know how are they are better. How is the drive with brembo brakes?Misconceptions about braking abound. Factory brakes stop just fine during the first 10 to 15 laps at a road course then get to hot then start to fade. Extra caliper pistons larger brake pads may but not necessarily always provide harder or shorter stopping distance. Mostly larger rotors and bigger calipers will improve stopping distance and amount of heavy braking you can do. Bigger rotors and calipers weigh more however. Things you can do to improve your stock brakes Metal braided brake hoses and replace the fade prone DOT 3 brake fluid with DOT 4 and use HAWK or other brand high performance brake pads. Brembo, Stop Tech, Behr and APR all make very good upgrades. (BUT) 350Z with anti lock brakes will only stop as good as the electronic controls will allow. How is the drive with brembo brakes?braking with deffinitly be harder. they stop way harder an faster, as well as staying cooler. cooler braking is betterHow is the drive with brembo brakes?Brembo brakes are very responsive, but I've had no 'hard' braking effect on my 350z.

I have had plenty of times when I've had to brake suddenly, but it's always been a very quick, but smooth braking.

The only negative point I have about Brembo brakes is that there's a heck of a lot of brake dust comes off them. But that's not really an issue. As other posters have said, stock brakes will be fine, but personally, I prefer something with a bit more trust factor built in, and for me, that's Brembo. Plus they add a little something to the look of the car too.

How do I get the most out of my brakes?

I read the reviews on a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country min van I just bought, most owners have complained of brakes wearing out, I would like to know the best way to stop, and cause the least amount of wear.

Do I pump, ride, or brake heavy? How do I get the most out of my brakes? There are several techniques you can use to save the brakes. Lightly and slowly pumping is one of the best. You can also drive by the gears and downshift to slow the car, but that can be uncomfortable in a minivan. There was an experiment conducted for fuel economy and the winner was the team who drove a regular car but drove it as if the brake pedal was on fire. This caused them to not only save gas by driving conservatively but they had minimum brake wear as well. How do I get the most out of my brakes?i would ride, they all do about the same amount of wearing but riding it applies less stress so it won't soften up(at 35 mph) just don't put it into reverse, it's unbelievable how many people do that.

Are directions included? How hard is it to change brakes on a 2000 dodge grand caravan? They're not all that hard to do. Probably the hardest part is compressing the caliper so you can get it back together. You can purchase a repair manual, for your vehicle, at your local parts store. You can look it up on line at your neighborhood library under the automobile repair section. The best thing about this is that it's free, well of course minus the local taxes, city taxes, state taxes. Or if you talk nice enough to the librarian you might get some help setting the repair manual aside, just for you. Seriously it's not hard. How hard is it to change brakes on a 2000 dodge grand caravan?Just changing the brake pads isn't hard to do. Make sure you don't get greasy fingerprints on the friction surfaces and be careful not to damage the brake lines when you have the calipers removed. But if you need rotors, it could be bad if they're rusted on. It took me 2 hours of beating with a BIG hammer and a whole can of liquid wrench penetrating oil and a large hub puller to get the rotors off of my son's car. It was the worst I've ever done. (and I've done a LOT of brake jobs.) If you know someone who's done it before, have them there with you in case you have any questions or run into trouble....especially since you've never done it before.

Also be safe...NEVER work on a car supported only by a jack. You should have jack stands under the vehicle in the correct position to properly support it.

How do I fix my brakes on a 90 Toyota Celica gt-s?

I have changed the bakes, caliper, rubber hoses and rotors...Bled the brakes but for some reason the front passenger side gets stuck. And there is a nasty smell too. The brake pedal also hardens...But if I step on the brake hard it releases preassure and Im able to drive again. Could it be that I need to replace the master cylinder? How do I fix my brakes on a 90 Toyota Celica gt-s?Sounds like a problem with the caliper to me.How do I fix my brakes on a 90 Toyota Celica gt-s?The smell could be the parking brake, and the hard pedal I cannot say. I would recommend going to a reliable mechanic and getting that checked out.How do I fix my brakes on a 90 Toyota Celica gt-s?It sounds as if the brake system is not releasing hydraulic pressure when you let off of the pedal. You need to check the clearance of the master cylinder push rod. It is difficult to do without a special tool but here is the gist of it. Take off the brake master cylinder. Measure the distance from the bottom of the hole in it where the push rod goes to the surface where it mounts on the brake booster. Measure the distance from the tip of the push rod to surface to the brake booster where the master cylinder goes. These should be the same or maybe the push rod length just a touch less. If the push rod length is greater than the depth of the hole it goes into the master cylinder is not allowed to return keeping the brakes on. If this distance checks out you probably have a problem with the master cylinder. If you install a new master cylinder be sure to check the push rod depth as described above. The depth can be adjusted by holding the splines on the push rod and turning the end in or out.

Can Geico pay for getting my brakes changed?

I was wondering if it is possible to get Geico to pay for changing brakes on my car. I know it'll cost around 300-400 dollars but if we don't bring the deductible in the picture is it possible for me to get them to pay for my car repairs when I have not been in an accident? No. Car insurance doesn't cover normal wear and tear - and brakes just wear out eventually. It's normal wear and tear. Can Geico pay for getting my brakes changed?Nope. Brakes are something that normally need to be changed on a vh. This is considered normal wear and tear and an insurance policy does not cover this type of loss. Any time there is a loss which you are liable... there is going to be a deductible. It doesn't sound like your breaks need to be changed as a result of an accident, but just normal wear and tear. SORRY!Can Geico pay for getting my brakes changed? You cannot get them to pay. Wear and tear and other vehicle maintenance is not covered. If it were, your insurance premiums would be much higher, and every body would be taking their vehicles in for maintenance just for the sake of doing so.

Please let us know if they will cover you. I will certainly change insurance companies. I spend nearly $3k a year maintaining my vehicles - timing belt, shocks, tires, e-brake cable, stabilizer bars, ignition switch, muffler and exhaust etc.Can Geico pay for getting my brakes changed? No company will pay for you to get your brakes done.

Auto policies do not cover regular maintaince or wear and tear items, ie brakes, you need new tires, etcCan Geico pay for getting my brakes changed? No. That's not what insurance is for. Brakes, tires, belts and hoses are designed to wear out and the cost of repairing or replacing them is yours, not the insurance company's,

Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?

Buy some new ones, this should correct the problem. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?i own a repair shop, and it could mean that the brakes are getting down to the wear limiter on the front pads, its designed to give off the squeal to warn you that they need replacing,,id say that's whats doing this though, its not an expensive job to do though,if you catch them now before they get bad it wont cost as much to repair them, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Squeaking used to be solely a wear indicator. Now, however, with asbestos out of brake shoes, breaks squeak or even grind when they are perfectly find. You should have your brakes looked at to find out.Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking? The brakes squeak for several reasons and here is a few,

    1) There worn down and the anti squeaker is rubbing the rotor

    2) Air is in the lines (need bleeding)

    3) Brake pads have metal in them

    4) Rattle springs are out causing a vibration

Best to remove the wheel and look at them first, front and rear if you do need brakes then you might consider having the rotors resurfaced as well or sand the rotor with a 320 sand paper to brake the glaze. Good Luck and GOD Bless,

JackieWhy have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Brakes, pads are designed to squeak when they need to be changed soon,so just go get pads put on before you have bigger problems by letting them go.Trust me it will save money in the long run and pads are cheap.hope that helps!!Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking? If the noise comes from the brakes all the time, your wear indicators are rubbing %26amp; you need to have a front brake job done. $80.00-$160.00 If you only hear the noise while braking, it might just be brake dust building up. You can try cleansing your brake/rotor area at the local car wash but only after the brakes have cooled down. A lot of the times the rotors become glazed %26amp; the material of the pads causes noise which will go away when cleaned. GM's are bad about squeeking brakes, not neccessarily a problem but wise to have them inspected. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?2 possible reasons (there may be more but these are the two obvious ones)

1 - You may need to get your brake pads replaced. They start squeaking on purpose to let you know they're wearing too thin. If the squeaking keeps getting worse, you need them replaced. Not a costly repair if you only need to replace the brake pads.

2 - Most times, small squeaks don't mean much. Some replacement brake pads just aren't as good as the originals for noise during braking. With a 16 year old car I would bet they aren't the originals.

Just to be safe you should have your brakes checked - good luck.

How can I tell if it's the front or rear brakes pulling?

I have an 03 wrangler and the brakes are pulling to the right a small amount. Is there a way to tell if it's the back or front. How can I tell if it's the front or rear brakes pulling?usually when they pull it will be the front brakes, more than likely your drivers side brake isn't working properly. How can I tell if it's the front or rear brakes pulling?Get up to 40 mph and stomp the brakes. If the car swerves to the right, it's the front brakes (most likely). If the rear end makes a break to the left and wants to make your Jeep swap ends, it's the rear. You have a very short wheelbase, so be careful you don't turn the wheel to the right and trip the damn thing over. How can I tell if it's the front or rear brakes pulling?if its possible take it to a car dealership and check the tracking if not when driving on a Straight road about 30mph put the steering wheel Straight and then let go and the car should pull if the tracking is out. also do the same but brake (making sure no 1 is behind you lol)and if its the brakes you should the pull to what ever side it is.

p.s if you get the tracking done the car may pull slightly to the left due to the camber of the road. How can I tell if it's the front or rear brakes pulling?Find an empty parking lot and drive in a straight line at a slow speed, release the steering wheel and lightly apply the brakes - if the steering wheel moves in the direction of the pull, it's the front wheel on the side of the pull that's grabbing or the opposite side that's not engaging as hard.

It may be a wise move to switch the front tires from side to side before getting too involved with the brakes. Often times this will be a tire concern.

At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe?

I know it sounds silly. But I have 56k miles on the vehicle and its 90% highway mileage. How can I look to tell if the brakes need changing? At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe? The best answer is always to take it to a qualified shop or technician and have them inspect it.

Brake services aren't determined by mileage but rather by the amount of brake pad and thickness of the rotors.

A simple way you can find out is to take a look at your brakes. You will see the rotor, which is the large metallic disc behind the rim. On one side of the rotor you will see a large bracket that looks almost like a hand grasping the rotor, that is your caliper. If you look at where the caliper touches the face of your rotor you will see a flat metal pad in there. That is your brake pad. It consists of two layers, the brake pad material which is touching the rotor and wears away over time, and the metal backing the pad attaches to.

Normal brake service is done when your brakes reach about 2mm thickness left of the pad. Basically the thickness of two pennies held togethor. Anything less than that and it's time to get brakes serviced.

In any situation your brakes are a vital component of your car and directly responsible for keeping you and your passengers safe. If you have any doubts whatsoever about inspecting them yourself then take them in and rest easy with peace of mind. Hope that helps! At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe? The rear brakes are certainly still good, unless someone has driven with the parking park on. (It happens).

The front park pads are another question. I've seen them last 70,000 and even 80,000 miles of mostly highway driving, if the driver has a gentle touch. But it is a good idea to have them looked at once a year or every 30,000 miles, whichever happens first.

I recommend removing the wheels so both the inner and outer pads can be inspected. Many shops will do this for free. If the friction material is thinner than the backing plate, they should be replaced. At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe?No matter it it's highway miles or city miles, no one drives and operates brakes the same way. So there is no set milage interval for break changes. However, you should have your breaks checked whenever you're having a tune-up or oil change, or tire rotation. A good mechanic can check you breaks in no time at all. And of course, if you notice your breaks operating differently or making noise or just not working normally, it's time to inspect. Always use professionals for this kind of auto work. Tires, Breaks, stearing - big safety issues. Good Luck.At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe? The brakes will let you know.

There are wear indicators on the brake pads. These are little metal tabs on the brake pads that will contact the rotors when the pads need to be replaced.

These wear indicators will make noise when you apply the brakes. It sounds like squeaking chalk on a chalk board.

There is no mileage point where you change your brakes. Brakes will wear differently depending on driving conditions and driving style. Cars driven in the city will wear the brake pads out faster than cars driven mostly on the highway. If you are an aggressive driver you will wear your brake pads out faster than a normal driver.

The quality of the replacement brake pads can also make a big difference.

I change my own brake pads. I thought I was saving money by using cheap brake pads. However I found myself changing the pads every 20,000 miles or so. I have started using more expensive pads and now I get about 50,000 miles or so from the pads. With brake pads, you get what you pay for, so go with better pads.At what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe?if you can jack up and remove tire you can replace brake pads or check them really easy look thru hole in caliber at pad if pad is less than a 1/4 or looks like the pad is not as thick as the medal its glued to its time to replace check right front since it wears out faster and really should have them check every time you rotate tires... front brake pads easy to replace at a home and reallyt you shouldnt wait til you hear them grind or squeal you can find how to replace or check here really not as hard as many think my wife does her own at home with out my help and knowing how to replace on one car you can pretty much do any there after and know when and how to do it will save you money even if you decide not to do it yourselfAt what mileage interval should brakes be changed on a pontiac vibe?pull a wheel off and look into the caliper. do the pads look worn or separated. if they look thin its time to replace them

How to drain brake fluid from 4 wheel Disc Brakes?

I always did my own brakes and usually drained and replenished the brake fluid. I have to change a car with 4 wheel disc brakes now. Do I have to unscrew all 4 or just one or two? Also, when I change brakes, I never get that vacuum back. It makes it so smushy the brakes go to the floor. Please help!!!How to drain brake fluid from 4 wheel Disc Brakes?when you bleed brakes your going to need 2 people.

one to run the brake pedal(MAN A), one to run the bleed screw(MAN B).

first top off your reservoir with some DOT 3

DON'T GET THIS ON THE CAR AS IT WILL TAKE PAINT OFF!!!

    Goes as follows.

MAN A applies pressure, no need to stomp on the brakes, but apply a solid consistent pressure.

MAN B loosen bleeder valve (brake pedal will become soft here so take it to the floor and hold it).

MAN B after a few seconds tighten bleeder valve completely.

MAN A release pressure on the brake.

just do that in the same order everytime you'll be fine.

Be sure to keep commuication between MAN A %26amp; B.

if you release pressure before tightening or don't apply before loosening, air will get into the line and you'll have to start over. Pump the brakes if you have to before each time.

Do this until you don't get anymore air bubbles coming out when you loosen the valve.

Also I always check the reservoir after each tire or if you had to change a large section of line have someone stand there and watch to make sure the reservoir doesn't go dry.

IF THE RESERVOIR GOES DRY YOU HAVE TO START OVER.

take it out for a test drive and repeat if needed. How to drain brake fluid from 4 wheel Disc Brakes? This is correct for bleeding the brakes, but you will need to do this over and over (regardless of air bubbles) to drain the brakes. I generally just disconnect the main line going to the brake calipers and then pump the brakes; this will drain the fluid much quicker.

How to drain brake fluid from 4 wheel Disc Brakes? When I change brake fluid on a car I simply open the bleed screw and let gravity do the work, make sure the reservoir does'nt empty!. when you put new pads in the callipers need to reset, it normally takes a few pumps of the pedal to do this.

If you get air in the system you will have to bleed the system to remove it.

Can disk brakes on a gas scooter/motorcycle be adjusted?

My automatic 150cc scooter has levers for front and rear (disk) brakes, and both are VERY tight with almost no give. Can this be adjusted? How to maintenance disc brakes on the bicycle?

How to check if the pads are worn out. And what tools I would need to use. I have mechanical Shimano BR-M475 disc brakes. Thank you!How to maintenance disc brakes on the bicycle? You are asking how to do this on here so please do not start taking the calipers off of the bike. The easiest way to check your pads for wear(even this is still a faff) is to turn the bike upside down, remove the wheel by undoing the quick release(front one first, easy peasy) then where the disc goes through the caliper you can see the pad and it's backing. When they are out they look like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Model

When the pad is nearly worn out the middle portion will be just under 1mm thick.

To change the pads the wheels need to be off. Take out the silver split pin and just pop the pads out. Watch how the spring is fitted between the pads as the new ones need to go back in the same way. Refit pads and spring, push the split pin back through making sure it's through the hole in the pads and open it up at the end. When you buy new pads, try and get the %26quot;sintered%26quot; ones. They have tiny bits of metal through the pad and are much harder wearing than %26quot;resin%26quot; ones which are prone to wearing out within a ride or two in the muddy UK.

As the pads wear out there are allen key adjusters on the calipers themselves which have arrows to show you which way to turn them to take up the slack. Turn them by an 1/8th of a turn each time and then spin the wheel to make sure it's not jamming the brakes shut, if the disc is rubbing undo the pads a click with the allen key untill they are just missing the disc or you can use the barrel adjuster on the brake lever to loosen them off too. A little %26quot;zing%26quot; here and there as the wheel spins is allowed.

It looks a right nightmare but when you are doing it you will see it's pretty easy.

Best of luck. How to maintenance disc brakes on the bicycle?they should be alright up until you have used all the adjustment on the brake lever.

when it fully screwed out all you need to use is a screwdriver to pull the pin out holding the pads in place. they should just slide out. and then screw the adjusting screw all the way back into the handle again when they aree replaced! How to maintenance disc brakes on the bicycle?Smear a good liberal amount of axle grease on them. Next once the brake assembly is off, you should see on one side a disc, likely silver with room for another Allen wrench, should be another 4mm. Next insert the wrench and remove that by turning and one half the brake pad is off. There you can see the amount of wear and if you need another brake pad. The other should be accessible after the one sides off.

How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?

I have had my car for about 4 years, and I looked through my records and can't find a previous replacement of my front brakes. So it seems like it might have really been time to replace them, but I just wanted a knowledgeable person to let me know. I already read the answer given to Starlicious, but it didn't say how often replacement is usually needed. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?could be about time...really depends on your driving habits...it you drive a NY City taxi, you are replacing brakes twice a year....if you live on a farm you may be able to go 10 years....somewhat depends on your style of driving and miles on the car....which is info that you did not provide. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?what size car?

do u ride your brakes when u drive?

do u have excessive brake dust on your rims from slamming the brakes often at high speeds?

is it auto or manual? How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually? It all depends on how many miles you drive, the conditions you are driving in, how you use the breaks (do you slam on them a lot, ride them, etc.).

Typically brake pads will last about 40-60K miles, maybe more depending on your habilts. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually? It will depend on the type of driving that you do, and how you drive. I have seen cars that have worn out the brakes in 6,000 miles, (stop and go mail or newspaper delivery) and car that have gone 60,000 miles and still did not need the brakes replaced. The best thing to do is to have a qualified mechanic inspect your brakes, so you know their condition. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?Front disk brake pads about 36,000 unless you have a gm midsize then it about 12,000 miles.

    Rear disk brakes about 60,000

But I still have the same brakes at 85,000 miles.

Most brakes have a special warning sound built into them that you will hear when they get near the end of their life. It's just a noise coming from the brakes that you never heard before. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually? There is no average because it can depend on the person driving, and where you're driving, and the mileage and type of car. You'd feel and hear a difference. Front brakes are usually very easy and cheap to replace so if you're debating it, it's probably worth it.How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?Bob is correct. A lot depends on how you drive and the type of car. For instance I put about 30k on my last set of brakes (89 BMW) while a friend of mine has about 65k om his Acura brakes. Depending on the type of car you have it may have a sensor to tell you when to change the pads. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually?depending on the car (how heavy etc), driving environment (highway or city) newer cars like yours, reasonably the brakes should last 100,000 miles or sometimes much longer. i drive about 60,000 miles per year and the last two suburbans i have had ( 1 with 147,000 and this one with 141,000) i have only replaced the front brakes once for both vehicles and have not replaced the rear. just inspect your brake pads when you have your tires rotated and you can see the amount of wear. if you start hearing a squeal or grinding noise that would probably be your low brake lining wear indicator. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually? It depends on the type of car..and the type of driving you do...55,000-80,000km for the front ..and about 100,000km for the back...

I usually get about 50,000 miles on mine, but I don't brake hard. Normally the auto shop will check the front pads when you get your oil changed, unless you do your own. It might be worth having the shop inspect both your front and rear brakes. If you have gone too far and didn't hear the wear indicators squealing, it could get very expensive. How often are new brakes needed on a car, usually? With all city driving, you might want to check/change brakes pads and have your rotors turned or replaced. do this about every 12,000 miles. Your front brakes do 90% of you stopping power, so if they fail your car will not stop during any emergency braking. if you feel any wobbling in your front end or pulsing of your brake pedal this means your disks or drums have warped and need replacing. I want to know if it's possible to put front brakes on %26amp; how what will I need %26amp; about how much would it cost? Can you put front brakes on a bike that only have coaster brakes?Your new bike would have to have mounting posts for the front wheel brakes, which I seriously doubt it would. I guess the fork could be drilled and tapped by a competent machinist, but that would be pretty radical and maybe expensive. You might also be able to replace the stock fork with a new one that would take brakes, but then you'd be looking at repainting the fork to match the rest of your bike. All expensive.

Maybe you better just consider a different bike. Besides, if the hills are steep enough to require conventional brakes, wouldn't you need a geared bike anyway? Can you put front brakes on a bike that only have coaster brakes? There are 2 things that might make this difficult. The fork might not have a hole to mount a caliper brake, or posts for v brakes, and many coaster brake bikes have rims that don't work for caliper rim brakes. You have to adjust the self adjusters all the way in to install the brake shoes. Then you turn the star out with a screwdriver until the shoes are close to the brake drum. Then you drive backwards, hitting the brakes every few feet until it feels right and the handbrake is correct. And yes, you can adjust the self adjusters by applying the handbrake as you go backwards slowly.

How do you know when you need your rear brakes replaced?

Ive been told by the guy that inspected my car that my rear brakes wont last another 6 months, and I haven't had any problems with them right now, and I need to know when to replace them. What are the signs that it is time to be replace. If I can hold off replacing them a few months I definitely will (money is tight in a bad economy). How do you know when you need your rear brakes replaced?6 months is a long time - for me I'll drive 8,000 miles in that 6 months. I'd wait.

The only way to know (without waiting too long) is to visually inspect the pads. Just have them checked again in about six months.

If, you do wait too - toooo long to check them, the pads will wear down to nothing, and some of the metal that holds the pad will scratch against your rotors or drums, depending on what kind of rear brakes you have. This would be really bad as damaged rotors or drums are more expensive to replace, and if they do get damaged/not replaced, they will wear out your future brake pads faster. How do you know when you need your rear brakes replaced? If you have over 70,000 miles on rear brakes, replace them. Remember, the front brakes usually need to be replaced before the back brakes.

This is from an independent garage. It could be cheaper at a place like Sears or WalMart, but we really trust this place, and they do super work. When I put my family in the Pathfinder - brakes are a critical component.

%26quot;Ranger%26quot;How much, roughly, should it cost to replace my brakes? All depends if the pads or shoes are metal on metal, then u need rotors or drums. Lots of places give free brake inspections- check them out!!!!!How much, roughly, should it cost to replace my brakes?front $89.95

    rear $99.95

if it does not need anything morHow much, roughly, should it cost to replace my brakes?if just the pads and shoes they go for about $80.00 mid grade. install is $100.00How much, roughly, should it cost to replace my brakes?Ok first off are you just replacing the brake pads? If so then make sure you buy good quality brake pads. Personally I'd get Bendix Ceramic brake pads. They cost roughly $60-$80 and are of excellent quality and provide little noise as well as little brake dust. They are performance pads so they should last you a long time

Second, before you go out and buy ceramic brake pads. You should ask yourself how will you be using the vehicle. Ceramic pads usually are used on cars, SUVs and some light duty trucks. If you have a light-duty truck or don't tow heavy loads then ceramic pads are for you. However, if you drive with heavy loads such as carpooling, driving your kids around, or if you do alot of towing then semi-metallic pads are for you. Semi-metallic pads are more commonly used for vehicles with heavy loads or for vehicle such as police cars and ambulances because they require less maintenance, and they have excellent heat and wear properties

There shouldn't be any more cost to you unless you have someone else do the work for you. If you replace the pads yourself it shouldn't take any longer than 2 hours depending on the vehicle your are working on.

Ok now there is only one last thing that I have to tell you. If you decide that semi-metallic pads are for you. Then, you will be happy to know that they cost less than ceramic pads.Everything I have mentioned above are key factors in picking quality pads.

    Hope this helps!!

If you feel a vibration or a hear a grinding noise or a high pitch sound when braking you could have warped rotors worn out pads or both. If you press the pedal and it feels spongy or goes to the floor or you have to pump it to make pressure then you probably have a booster problem or master cylinder problem. How do you recover bad brakes on BMX bike?

The brakes pads on my bmx bike is horrible.

When i squeeze the brakes, it takes a while for the bike to completely stop.

There is still enough padding on the brake pads.

Is there any way I can fix and enhance the braking power so it will lock onto my rims and stop the bike efficiently?

Is there a way to clean the brake pads to help it?

How do you recover bad brakes on BMX bike? What kind of rims do you have..?? It's a known fact that powder coated rims (coloured rims) don't work as well with brakes, as chrome rims do. The paint on the rims just don't grip to the brake pads as well as chrome rims do.

What you can do, is give the rims a good clean, with some wet-naps. I like to use the ones that you get at KFC. They're perfect size for cleeaning your rims :)

Alternatively, you could pour Coke onto your rim. Sounds odd, i know, but look it up online, and I'm sure you'll see cases of people who use this method. When the Coke dries, it's super sticky on your brake pads.

Make sure ur brake pads are clean, too. When they get a film of paint, or dust, they can be a lot less effective. Take them off, and rub them on a brick, to clean the black film that builds up on them, and it will really rough-up your pads, which is helpfull with making them grip better.

What brand are your brakes, too..?? Cheaper brakes usually don't work as well as good ones, too. I have 990's on my bike, with Hombre Fiesta pads. I can stop on a dime, and do front wheel hops on the pedals, thats how good they are :)

Hope you can get it sorted..!! I am going to take my brakes off next year. lolHow do you recover bad brakes on BMX bike?Westcoast has a great answer exxcept for the chrome vs. other rims. Especially on the rear brakes if the piston has to be rotated and pushed at the same time. And if there is rust, you can spend a decent amount of time lubricating or heating up bolts. However 9 hours is a lot of freakin' time to be doing brakes! I have the discs and pads but am unsure how to progress. How do i change my Corsa B Front Brakes? To be honest with you, your brakes are very important and if you need to ask how to replace them, then my advice would be to get them changed at a garage.

Ja.How do i change my Corsa B Front Brakes?easy...you need a wheel brace, axial stand some spanners and allen keys...loosen wheel, jack up and support the car...remove wheel....remove calliper from behind the disc..remove the disc..fit new one but clean with thinners/petrol as there coverd in oil...refit calliper...u need to force the pads apart to push in the pistons of the ccalliper..caliper either comes apart by an allen key bolt from behind or a bolt or 2...once the calliper is split just replace the pads opposite of removal..refit calliper checking all is tight...and your done..replace wheel, drop on the floor and tighten the wheel nuts...do the other side but before moving the car stamp on the brakes till they go sold and your done....a manual will help,i advise buying one.How do i change my Corsa B Front Brakes?jack your car up and secure it so it won,t fall, take the wheel off, take a c-clamp and draw the piston in the caliper in, take 2 bolts out, take the caliper off and change the pads and install the caliper and tighten the bolts, spray it down with brake cleaner and pump up the brakes. How do i change my Corsa B Front Brakes? As above, buy a Haynes manual, it will detail the procedure for changing discs %26amp; pads, with pictures, you'll save the money you've spent on it the first time you use it.How do i change my Corsa B Front Brakes?I JUST LOVE THESE SO CALLED EXPERTS AND TOP CONTRIBUTORS.

Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?

I replaces the front brake pads on my 98 civic and I noticed I had spongy brakes afterward. I bled my brakes and that didn't help. At this point I'm thinking it might either be the master cylinder or the calipers that are at fault. Is there any way to tell which one might be causing the problem by how the car is braking? Right now when I step on the brake pedal it goes all the way to the floor . There isn't any sudden jerking when I step on the pedal.Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?keep bleeding those front brakes as it sounds like there is still air in them, I hope you have someone else in the car pumping the brake pedal while your doing the bleeding.Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?bleed the backs first...then the fronts

    my method..

2 people, one in car, one at the hub

person at hub yells %26quot;down%26quot; and person inside presses brake and holds it...

you open the bleeder for a second then close it

yell %26quot;up%26quot; person inside releases brake

    yell %26quot;down%26quot;

repeat process a dozen times for each wheel...and keep an eye on the brake fluid level, if you let it empty, you'll have to start over...

if you still have a low pedal, you may need to adjust the %26quot;adjuster%26quot; on the rear brake shoes (assuming you don't have 4 wheel disks)Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?bleed it againBrakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?bleed furthest away from master cyclinder first followed by next closest and so on...you have air in the lines...you need a steady stream of fluild when you open the bleeder valve. Make sure you keep plenty of fuild in the master cyclinder or you'll end up having to get them power bled....Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?bleed them againBrakes still spongy after bleeding brake line? You bleed your brakes in this order. You bleed your longest line first Back right rear is the longest on most cars. then the left rear. Then the right front then the left front. Be sure you have bled all of the air bubbles out. If this will not help. Check all of your brake work again to be sure everything is in order.Brakes still spongy after bleeding brake line?I suggest a power bleed at a shop. They don't cost that much and it will get all the air from the lines.

How hard is it to change the rear brakes on a ford laser?

    Hi,

Just wondering how hard it is to change the breaks on a ford laser. I think that they are drum brakes. Someone said it wasn't very difficult.

Thanks to everyone in advanceHow hard is it to change the rear brakes on a ford laser?corset thanks

    never done a laser

    done sierra, escort ect

    its not simple

but i would say if you take a pic, before you start removing the springs, and your a smart lady :) - you will be able to get it back, just remember they are adjustable, so if they dont fit back in, move the little moon shaped bit/cam with the teeth on to its other extremity....

front are easier, as long as you have the right tool, which might be a 9ml hex, which im guessing you wont have, non standard size, cant remmember if u need for back

when doing front remember to compress the POT before you refit. this means get the cup bit with the tube on, and squeeze it with all your might, might have to stand on it if ure little.... its a cup within a cup, kind thing, break fluid between the cups.. :)How hard is it to change the rear brakes on a ford laser?Go here and fill out the make, model and year. Then decide for yourself. If you have a good jack and the proper tools, it isn't that hard to do. You may have to take the drums to a shop and have them turned, but that shouldn't cost much. You can usually find out about turning the drums from the place you buy the linings.

My friend needs new disk brakes, I offered to do it myself, but she said she will just pay someone. Her mechanic said it woul $168, does that seem like alot?Roughly how much does it cost for a mechanic to change yours car disk brakes?Hard to say. A lot of it depends on the quality of the pads, and does that include turning the rotors? There are a lot of variables involved to say for sure. However the price quoted doesn't seem to be out of line for the job.

You can walk away with a bill of over $300.00. When you take it in and tell them you just need brake pads, they will give you a quote on that. However, once they have your car, you will be getting a call that you also need your discs either turned or replaced, as well as your calipers.

Since you are speaking of %26quot;disk brakes%26quot;, I assume you have disk on front and drums on the rear. 80% of your stopping comes from the front brakes, so they wear out faster.

New front pads will only cost you about $30.00, and they are easy to replace. However, don't offer to do it for her unless you have experience at such things.

Jack her up and pull the wheel and remove the caliper. Look at the pads and ensure they are evenly worn. If they are not evenly worn, or the pad next to the caliper piston is worn more than the outside, you need work on the caliper. Don't try to rebuild it. Just buy a new one. Check your disc and if it is really rough, have it %26quot;turned%26quot; or replace it. Taking off too much metal from the disc will cause it to overheat and you will have what is called %26quot;brake fade%26quot;.

On some cars you don't even have to remove the caliper. Just push in the piston and slip in the new pads. If you put on a new caliper, you will need to bleed the brake line.

I NEVER advise anyone to take their car to a shop for a %26quot;brake job%26quot; if they know someone who has the expertise to do it for them.

How do you release seized rear drum brakes on a 1997 ford fiesta?

My mum's ford fiesta 1997 has been parked up for several months and now we've come to move it, the rear brakes seem to be stuck on. Any ideas how to release them.

It will be a case of trying to get the parking brake to release. Try putting the parking brake on and off in a jerking motion to see if it will release. Try to move the car fwd. and backward a few times to see if it will let go. You may have to go underneath and look @ the linkage and see if you can make a disconnect then try to release it by going in the opposite direction with the brake mechanism @ the back of the wheel. Some WD40 may help but not excessively.
