How much to expect to pay for all new brakes?

I live in Ontario and own a 2005 Chevy Aveo, what should I expect to pay for replacing all 4 brakes on my car (including labour?). How much to expect to pay for all new brakes?easy to replace your self many people do it at home my wife does her's but easy to call three shops and ask. call any parts store and ask .. dont know about there but here brake pads cost about 25 buck front or rear and having them place is about 100 each end depending on if you just need pads.. if you need rotors then price will vary and go up a brunch best just to call three shops and ask and go with one that is closer to you.... i do mine at home under 100 bucks call any parts store.... you will find how to do it here.. even a video of how if you search for it youtube How much to expect to pay for all new brakes?I would guess that is going to come to around 800 dollars. How much to expect to pay for all new brakes?Unless your car has had a tendency to lock up the rear tires during heavy braking/stopping in adverse traction conditions or you have in excess of 100,000 miles your rear drums (the rotating part of the friction surfaces) should be within specification for thickness. In the case i am imagining for you I would consider a complete overhaul to be change the front rotors (rotating portion of the friction system for front tires), replace the calipers with with a autoparts store boxed part, new pads for front braking system, new shoes (the pad equivalent in a drum brake system like on the back wheels of your aveo), fluid change would come to this

about $400 USD for all parts plus or minus 10% but my pricing assumes premium component purchase

no more than 3 hours, maybe 4 hours tops of labor. This is a very straightforward job that basically entails taking the tires off, removing some easy-to-access fasteners and swapping everything out. It took me 2 hours to fully replace all braking hardware on my 2001 saab 9-5 which is a notoriously difficult vehicle for a brake change, the hardest and the only significantly different setup I have seen. It all basically worked the same way so... get a few quotes for shop time to perform the labor.

You could probably get away without replacing the calipers but I wouldn't trust just any Chain store mechanic to know how to make the determination. A specialty shop can save you money( about $200USD from my pricing source) in this regard because i almost always %26quot;rebuild%26quot; the caliper piston assembly myself. Never is it anything more than popping the piston out and changing the number of seals for that particular part. This never takes more than a couple of minutes per caliper once its off the car, which takes a couple of minutes after the tire is off. I think I once paid more than $3.00 USD for the rebuild %26quot;kit%26quot; of seals. The specialty shop would be happy to charge you a half hour of labor to do this and it spares you the extreme expense of the boxed remanufactured caliper.
