Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?

I just purchased a 1991 Chevy Beretta in good condition from a private owner, I have had it for 5 weeks now, and never did the brakes start squeaking until today, What does it mean when your brakes start to squeak and how can i fix this problem? Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking? It means your brake pads are worn to the point of needing to be replaced. The squeaking is a reminder to get the pads changed, a safety feature. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?the squeeking is most likley the wear indicators telling you that its time for new pads...

do it now before the rivets wear into the rotors and the rotors need to be turned or replaced...

you can expect to pay for a brake job about 350 dollars USD on up to 500 Dollars USD.

good luckWhy have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Your brake pads are wore out. have your brakes checked. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Generally, when your brakes start squeeking, it is the wear indicator letting you know that the pads or shoes are getting thin. Have someone have a look at them, it is also possible they just need to be cleaned and have the sliders lubed. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?brake pads or brake rotors over heat. brake shims came off. rock or debris stuck into the brake padsWhy have my brakes started slightly squeaking? If it sounds like metal grinding ou need new pads, even if they are pad left they could be bad also, just the way they are made. Buy some new ones, this should correct the problem. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?i own a repair shop, and it could mean that the brakes are getting down to the wear limiter on the front pads, its designed to give off the squeal to warn you that they need replacing,,id say that's whats doing this though, its not an expensive job to do though,if you catch them now before they get bad it wont cost as much to repair them, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Squeaking used to be solely a wear indicator. Now, however, with asbestos out of brake shoes, breaks squeak or even grind when they are perfectly find. You should have your brakes looked at to find out.Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking? The brakes squeak for several reasons and here is a few,

1) There worn down and the anti squeaker is rubbing the rotor

2) Air is in the lines (need bleeding)

3) Brake pads have metal in them

4) Rattle springs are out causing a vibration

Best to remove the wheel and look at them first, front and rear if you do need brakes then you might consider having the rotors resurfaced as well or sand the rotor with a 320 sand paper to brake the glaze. Good Luck and GOD Bless,

JackieWhy have my brakes started slightly squeaking?Brakes, pads are designed to squeak when they need to be changed soon,so just go get pads put on before you have bigger problems by letting them go.Trust me it will save money in the long run and pads are cheap.hope that helps!!Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking? If the noise comes from the brakes all the time, your wear indicators are rubbing %26amp; you need to have a front brake job done. $80.00-$160.00 If you only hear the noise while braking, it might just be brake dust building up. You can try cleansing your brake/rotor area at the local car wash but only after the brakes have cooled down. A lot of the times the rotors become glazed %26amp; the material of the pads causes noise which will go away when cleaned. GM's are bad about squeeking brakes, not neccessarily a problem but wise to have them inspected. Why have my brakes started slightly squeaking?2 possible reasons (there may be more but these are the two obvious ones)

1 - You may need to get your brake pads replaced. They start squeaking on purpose to let you know they're wearing too thin. If the squeaking keeps getting worse, you need them replaced. Not a costly repair if you only need to replace the brake pads.

2 - Most times, small squeaks don't mean much. Some replacement brake pads just aren't as good as the originals for noise during braking. With a 16 year old car I would bet they aren't the originals.

Just to be safe you should have your brakes checked - good luck.
