How much does it cost to put brakes on a bicycle?

I am getting a brake less track bike, but i want brakes for safety. how much should it cost, nothing fancy. i just don't want my local bike shop to rip me off.How much does it cost to put brakes on a bicycle?Well, the big question is whether or not the frame is already pre-drilled out for brake mounting or not.



If it is, then it's no big deal, you just buy a front or rear brake or both, and they install them. Most folks opt for the front brake only, but both is good, too.



If it's not, then it's a VERY big deal because either the fork has to be drilled out, or a replacement pre-drilled fork has to be fitted, and the rear brake, if you want one, will have to be drilled for, too, all of which is going to be VERY expensive.
