How do i install brakes (pads, roaters the whole 9)
I want to do it right so please leave as many details as humanly possible.
i Have a 1998 ford contour. 2.0How to install brakes.?Get a book for your vehicle: Drive to auto parts store and find book for your vehicle and take it to counter and purchase it.
The basic do-it-yourself:
1.Go to auto parts store and buy the correct disk pads for your vehicle.
2. Open the hood of car. Check to see how much oil is in the brake booster reservoir.
3. Break the lugs nuts loose on the front wheels.
4. Raise the vehicle with a jack and place a jack stand under car.
5. Remove the lug nuts on each and remove wheel.
6. Now each caliber is different on each car. Usually there are 2 pins holding the pads in the caliber so remove the pins.
7. Now take a small pry bar or screwdriver and wiggle it between the pad and rotor. You need to move the pistons in the caliber all the way back to allow the new pads to fit. You need to do this slowly and check to see if the oil level in brake reservoir is getting too full.
8. Now remove the pads from the rotor.
9. Now put the glue on back of new rotors so they don't make noise while you are driving the vehicle. Place the pads in so the steel part of pad is towards the piston.
10. Install the pins so the new pads are locked into place.
11. Place wheels back on and hand tighten lug nuts.
12.Lower vehicle and properly torque the wheels or get then as tight as you can by hand.
13. Close hood and start car. Pump the brake petal a couple of times. If petal feels good then take for test drive. How to install brakes.?How do you not know how i learned when i was 8 dummassHow to install brakes.?go pay 16-18 bucks for a repair manual for your car it will explain it along with pictures. How to install brakes.?Get a Haynes manual at Murray's or autozone, pepboys for your car.
