My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?

but they are still making the same noise. i would to have expected some tention on the brake pedal with new brakes but it feels like nothing has beed done. how do i checkMy car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?Some varied advice there.

As one of the previous responses said, if you've had pads %26amp; discs replaced, any decent garage would have bled the system %26amp; adjusted the rear drums (if your car has them) at the same time, meaning your brakes should feel 'as new', with a very firm pedal %26amp; good response.

I would suspect that at the least, the rear brakes weren't adjusted - pull the handbrake up until it just starts to 'drag' and check the pedal feel again; If all's OK, then that's where the problem lies.

As for noise, it's possible the calipers weren't properly cleaned prior to fitting the new pads, copper grease wasn't used, or the 'anti squeal shims' weren't replaced (You can guess by the name what their job is!)

Just take it back %26amp; explain your concerns - If they're on the level, they'll have no hesitation in showing you exactly what has %26amp; hasn't been done. You should see the nice new shiny brake discs through the wheels (although they will attract surface rust within minutes of stopping the car in the wet - this is fine), and you should see the pads are new as you'll probably still see the writing on the backs of them (although really they should look a bit of a gold colour if the correct grease has been used).

Don't look for dust - with new discs as well as pads, there shouldn't be much to see.My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?Brake fluid pressure may not be correct. Also if the pads have recently been changed they may give of a small amount of dust when new. Clean your weels, drive around and break and then check there is fresh black dust.My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?How many miles have you done with the new brakes???? Usually takes about 200 miles for the pads to bed in and the petal can feel spongy for that period. As for the noise probably a little dust, try braking a little firmer (not slam the brakes on but just a little harder than you are) should clear the dust for a whileMy car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ? where did you get the work done? They shold have never released it from the shop like that.

When a brake job is done right it should come out of the shop feeling like the car was brand new ,,,as far as the brakes are concerned. There should be no noise at all and the pedal pressure should be firm.

My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?First they are disc brakes second you can see new pads through the wheel vents with a torch , if you are not sure go to a mot station and ask them to confirm that they are newMy car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?You Probably need to bleed the master cylinder, and the brake lines, for a firmer pedal. As for the noise they make a noise reduction solution you apply to the pads as you put them on, and even then you may hear some noise, disc breaks are some time prone to do that, the black dust is from brake useage, you might need to turn your rotors. My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?take it back 2 where u had it done and explain ur concerns it may be something really simple My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?the screeching has nothing to do with the brakes wearing out, it's the most common and easiest problem to solve, what the garage hasn't done is put copper slip grease on the back of the brake pad. as for the dust this is due to the pads wearing, the cheaper ones are worse, all pads need to be broken in by driving with very little pressure on the brake pedal so they get hot but don't over heat, it will make them stronger and last longer ! My car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads and discs ?If it's drum brakes on the rear a build up of brake dust makes them squeal , disc brakes can sequel if the shims are missing behind the pads or if some ones fitted them without putting a smear of copperslip behind the pads
