How much would it cost to remove drum brakes and replace with disc brakes?

My car is a 2002 Vauxhall Astram Mk4 with 5 doors. Its a 1.6 8v. It currently has rear drums fitted and I want them replacing with disc brakes. How much would it cost to remove drum brakes and replace with disc brakes? It isn't worth the trouble and expense. The car is factory designed to brake with discs at the front and drums at the rear. If you are successful you will only achieve an imbalance in the braking and will probably find that the rear wheels lock and lose grip. Not a practical proposition. How much would it cost to remove drum brakes and replace with disc brakes?Find the same type car in a breakers yard, and get all the bits you need off the donor car. Don't forget the handbrake cables either, and remember, they fitted Bosch and Lucas rear brake calipers, only fit them in matching pairs. To be honest, the drum is a far more reliable brake for a parking brake. A lot of work for little gain, you will also need to replace brake pipes and hoses, and if theres a load valve fitted, that will also need removing, and that is above the rear axle, all this stuff is matched at the factory, you might even need the master cylinder. Do you have ABS? Most of the all disc Astras had it, but not all the disc/drum ones did. Best of luck.
