How much would it cost to get new brakes in a 1998 ford explorer sport edition?
I was also wondering how much you think its worth. I was planning on buying it and subtracting the cost to fix the brakes from what he wants me to pay for it. He wants $1300 and it has 232,000 miles on it is that reasonable. How much would it cost to get new brakes in a 1998 ford explorer sport edition?for the brakes, about 225 dollars if the rotors are completely shot. if not about 150 from any repair shop. now for the explorer itself, 232000 miles on a ford 4.0 liter v6 is a lot, and i mean a lot, get ready to put on a fuel pump and have the timing set changed (again) and probably several other drivetrain related parts. the explorer is still probably a good vehicle but you need to see if he will take 1000 dollars first. i would estimate with that mileage its only worth about 1300 dollars in excellent shape.
