There is a reason why the bikes with disc brakes cost more. they may just be all round better bikes, and worth the extra dollars. It will cost you every bit as much to buy them and have them installed than it would to have bought the one with them. The typical hybrid bike with disc brakes can cost about $400 and up and the cost of the disc brakes alone would be about that much forget about the new wheelset that might cost another $200 or so that can accept disc rotors. Most all manufacturers set up their bikes (with disc brakes) relatively cheaply for sale to retailers to mark-up for profit and are still relatively affordable for the quality you get (NO DEPT. STORE BIKES- THESE ARE ALL JUNK) sorry but I am down on these. My best recommendation to you would be to wait until you can afford the better bike...you will not regret it if you do, sell something you have to get you to that better bike. Go to Preformance bike and you can finance any bike for 90 day same as cash that costs over $500 or to any bike shop that has a layaway program and take 90 - 180 days or so to pay it off at 0% (or more) interest.
