I have a 97 Pontiac Sunfire, makes loud screeching noise, I think brakes need to be replaced. My friend says the rotors or drums (?) might need to be replaced too. I was wondering how much it would be to have it completely done at an auto shop, and how much it would be if I buy parts myself and have someone do it for me.How much will it be to replace brakes to my car?Which brakes are you doing, front or back (disks in front or drums in back)? Also depends on how much you are replacing - rotors, pads...
When I replaced just the front disk rotors (98 sunfire, just before I got rid of the non Mopar piece of crap) , it was $40 for the pair. I can't remember how much the pads were but they weren't expensive. I did it myself, so no extra expense to pay someone. Call your local Napa, Schucks, Auto Zone... They will give you the cost to purchase the parts on your own. And then pay off a (knowledgeable) friend with some beer to do the work for you. It will be A LOT cheaper than taking it anywhere. How much will it be to replace brakes to my car?about 10 to do it yourselfHow much will it be to replace brakes to my car?not too much, as long as you get them done now, before you wear grooves in the rotors. That sound is made to remind you to change your brake pads. But eventually, there are only so many times you can turn your rotors, before you need new ones. The pads will run you about $30 a pair, the rotors about $75 each. Find a friend to put them on for you (pretty basic mechanics) and you're good to go!How much will it be to replace brakes to my car?my dads a mechanic and if u don't oaders probaly about $30-$45How much will it be to replace brakes to my car?If you can't do it, or find someone else to do it, as shop will probably cost upwards of 2-300 bucks.
I HIGHLY recommend buying the parts and doing it yourself. It's pretty simple. I have a 97 Cavalier (same car) and I do mine in my driveway. Check a Haynes or Chilton manual out of the library for added support if you're concerned about doing it yourself... but it really will save you a couple hundred dollars. How much will it be to replace brakes to my car?glowy, the brakes on a car are very important if not a must that they operate in the best of conditions.Choose a qualify brake specialist shop and have them do it.
