If not, then the service shop will charge more for doing this always. The rotors should be sanded down to prevent the new pads from wearing down sooner, if you've never had the brakepads changed before and had the car for years you may need them replaced though.



I would get 2 or 3 estimates. Call around and see if there is a place where they do free estimates on brakes but avoid Sears Auto, they backed my car off the rack in the shop and smashed it into a pole. They paid for the damage they did and I didn't even need the brakes replaecd that time. If you have the tools, time, and know how, you can buy the parts and do it yourself. Save about $200-$250 ask some friends too, they may do them for a few buck (just make sure they know what they are doing)
